The Dutch gas sector signed the starting version of the ‘Code of Conduct – Marginal Fields’ on the 7th of September. The Code of Conduct (CoC) was drawn up in close consultation with stakeholders of oil and gas projects and provides general guidelines for the careful involvement of the environment in projects for small fields on land. With the CoC the sector responds to the desire to be an involved, reliable and approachable player in the environment. The sector wants to achieve this and give form to projects by, amongst other things, going into discussion with direct stakeholders as much as possible. The sector would like to improve the support and acceptance for oil and gas projects in the environment with this CoC, assuming that natural gas will still be needed in the Netherlands during the energy transition.
